“Building Better Soil” on 25th October, focuses on practical ways of improving heavy clay soil using compost, biochar and plants. The workshop will take place at a commercial flower farm, where participants can see how compost and biochar are being used together with plants to improve heavy clay soil. The day will include practical demonstrations of biochar production and application, large-scale Bokashi food-scrap composting, and the farm’s unique system for applying biochar. It’s a great opportunity to see these approaches being used in a real working farm environment.
This event is brought to you by the City to Farm in collaboration with the farm and Biochar Network NZ.
We promote free and low-cost community events all across Rodney so that all locals have opportunities to connect in interesting and accessible ways. Find more information on our website www.rodneycommunity.org.nz
