A new disc golf course in Goodall Reserve is ready to be used.

10/2026: Recreation

Nine holes. One more reason to enjoy your local park.

There’s a new way to enjoy Goodall Reserve in Snells Beach. The nine-hole disc golf course is free to play and offers a relaxed way to spend time outdoors, catch up with friends and whānau, or try something different.

The course is now playable! There are still a few finishing touches to come, but the community can already get out and enjoy a round.

Whether you’ve played before or are picking up a disc for the first time, everyone is welcome. And because Goodall Reserve is already enjoyed in so many ways, the course has been designed with other park activities in mind.

How do you play?

It’s a bit like golf, but instead of hitting a ball into a hole, you throw a disc towards a metal basket. Start at the marked starting point for hole one, throw towards the basket, then take your next throw from where your disc lands. Keep going until the disc is in the basket, aiming to use as few throws as possible.

If you’re new to it, think of it like playing catch, with the basket as the person you’re throwing to. There’s no need to overcomplicate it.

Getting started

The course is free to use. Bring your own discs with community discs available to borrow from the local library for free once the final arrangements are in place. You can also use the UDisc app to find your way around the course and keep track of your score.

One park, lots of ways to enjoy it

Goodall Reserve remains a shared space for everyone — including people walking, spending time with the kids, exercising or simply enjoying the outdoors. If you’re playing disc golf, always check that the area ahead is clear before throwing, wait for people to move safely out of range and give way to other park users.

A little consideration helps make the reserve enjoyable for everyone.

Come and give it a go

Bring a friend or whānau, enjoy the fresh air and try a round. Nine holes, no experience needed and another reason to enjoy your local park.
