A coastal engineer’s perspective on shoreline adaptation: the choices, trade-offs and consequences. Speaker: Richard Reinen-Hamill, Director, Tonkin + Taylor.
We’re delighted to have Richard Reinen-Hamill, one of New Zealand’s leading coastal engineers and coastal hazards experts, joining our community Harbour Edge workshop.
Richard is Sector Director – Natural Hazard Resilience and Technical Director Coastal Engineering at Tonkin + Taylor, with more than 38 years’ experience in coastal engineering and understanding how coastlines work and change.
His session will look at shoreline adaptation and responses to erosion and climate impacts. He’ll explore the benefits and trade-offs of different approaches, their effects on the wider harbour, and how they may perform over time as conditions change.
The aim is to give our community a clearer understanding of the choices available – and what those choices may mean for the harbour in the years ahead.
