The Muriwai Village Green playspace is really starting to look the part, with the skate park and basketball court coming along nicely.
Drainage for the skate bowl is complete, the paving base for the basketball court and skate park is in, and the skate bowl build-up is nearly finished using recycled crushed concrete. New fencing is also about halfway complete, along with the tennis court edge beam.
Next up, crews will keep working on the skate bowl and reinforcing, continue the fencing, and prepare the basketball court for its concrete pour.
There is one small catch: it’s not ready to ride just yet.
We know a brand-new skate park is pretty hard to resist, but contractors have already had people trying to test it out. Some of the concrete has only just been primed, and using the park too early could damage the surface and delay the opening.
The area is also still an active work site, so please stay out until the fences come down and the park officially opens.
We’re excited too — and there’s plenty planned for opening day. After waiting this long, it’s worth giving the new park just a little more time to finish cooking.
