A little bit about us and where we are headed!
The Rodney Youth Project started as a year long pilot programme supported by the Rodney Local Board. We have enabled hundreds of local youth to access FREE weekly classes, workshops and events across Rodney for the past 18 months. Our recent Rodney Youth Small Project Fund gave support and funding to 20 NEW youth activities, starting in Term 4 2025 and running until April 2026 – all of which you will see on our page here!
NOW:
With support from the Rodney Local Board, a new Rodney Community Team is up and running and they are keen and ready to support more local youth activities like those started under the Rodney Youth Project.
They are a local team, covering the entire Rodney Local Board area, from Muriwai up to Te Hana with 5 x Community Facilitators, plus a Play, Rec & Youth Coordinator who works Rodney-wide.
**What this means for youth:**
* More team members to help connect you with support and resourcing for any youth & community initiatives that are youth led, created, or designed!
* Heaps of fun things to do that are easy to get to and low cost or FREE — from play and learning to arts and events, for the whole family
* Revitalised community hubs and shared spaces that are welcoming for all ages
* New job, training and skills opportunities for locals especially young people
