Mānawatia a Matariki!
Slowly but surely, more opportunities to acknowledge and celebrate Matariki are popping up across Rodney. The appearance of the Matariki cluster in the mid-winter sky marks the Maori New Year and is a time of gathering, celebrating and remembering those who have passed as well as a time to plan for the future.
We know lots of families are interested and keen to learn more so we hope to provide a simple online calendar of Matariki events to help people find something close to them to get involved in. We invite groups and organisations to share any details of their own public Matariki events with us on our Matariki Calendar.
The Rodney Community team on behalf of the Rodney Local Board are proud to be supporting three events across East Rodney; all open to the public and free to attend! They are: Matariki Lantern Walk 9th July, Matariki at Te Hana Te Ao Marama on 10th July and the Mahurangi Matariki Festival with Kawau Bay Action Group on 18th July.
